In the class “Sophomore Design” at LSU (ME2212), we were grouped into teams, and given certain design tasks. Out of the provided options, our team chose to develop a tether winch for a remotely operated underwater vehicle, an ROV. While my groupmates worked on the extensively long report, I took on the task of 3D modeling the entire thing, as I was the only one in our group with significant skill in that department. Real parts were replicated in 3D, including the T-slot extrusions, bracketing, the motor, and the gearbox. On top of the CAD model, I created all 18 drawings (4 are pictured). It was a very detailed project, with torque simulations on the drum, and more.
This was my first in-depth team project experience, and everything went great. We got a great grade on our report.
